UBC’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has large, world-class graduate programs. Currently over 400 graduate students are enrolled in 3 graduate degree programs. The graduate programs are a strong driving force for excellence and the continued rejuvenation of all that UBC does. The contributions graduate students and alumni make are vital to the growth of the Department and to UBC as a whole.
The Department offers two Masters degrees: Masters of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) and Masters of Engineering (M.Eng.). Candidates looking to continue their education beyond the Masters level can qualify for the Doctoral Program (Ph.D.).
Applications for all Graduate Programs are due:
December 1st, 2011 - International Students and Domestic (Citizens and Permanent Residents) Students requiring financial support.
January 31st, 2012 - Domestic (Citizens and Permanent Residents) Students not requiring financial support. We do strongly urge domestic students to submit by the International student deadline.
There are three other graduate programs offered by UBC that may be of interest to applicant. The Biomedical Program, Engineering Management Program and the Master of Software Systems (M.S.S.) are not offered by ECE however the Department is associated with the programs. Applicants interested in the M.S.S. program should apply directly.
M.Eng. students in Electrical and Computer Engineering may apply for admission to the Engineering Management Program once they are registered in Electrical and Computer Engineering. M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. students interested in the Engineering Management Program may be required to take courses beyond those required by their graduate program. In all cases students who intend to take the Engineering Management Program must ensure that they have the permission of their supervisor and are meeting the ECE program requirements listed above.
Applicants interested in the Biomedical Program should apply to the department they are interested in working in, noting on their application and questionnaire that they are interested in the Biomedical Program. Specific information about applying to the BMEG program with ECE as your "home" department can be found here.
