A Professor Emeritus in the School of Engineering Science at Simon Fraser University, Dill received his PhD from The California Institute of Technology. He is Principal Investigator for, and Director of, SFU’s Visual Analytics Research Lab which develops new visualization methods for a variety of areas including large manufacturing concerns, health sciences, and critical infrastructure protection. Prior positions include Cornell University and the GM Research Laboratories in the U.S. His current research interests include visual analytics, and information visualization.
Dill is a member of the IEEE Information Visualization Conference's Steering Committee, the IEEE VAST Conference Steering Committee, was co-Chair of the 2007 IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology Symposium and was Editor-in-Chief of IEEE's Computer Graphics and Applications Editorial Board. Dill also served on the US National Visualization and Analytics Center's National Research Agenda Panel and was appointed as the first NVAC Scholar.
