Graph-based Sybil Detection in Social and Information Systems receives Best Paper Award

Yazan Boshmaf and his LERSSE research colleagues received a Best Paper Award at the  IEEE/ACM International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining for their paper, Graph-based Sybil detection in social and information systems. Defending against sybil attack is essential for today's online sytstems. In this paper, Yazan and his co-authors present an analytical framework to evaluate graphic-based sybil Detection algorithms, a common method to defend against Sybil attack.  Sybil Attacks

Secure Systems Engineering (LERSSE)

Laboratory for Education and Research in Secure Systems Engineering (LERSSE) led by Prof. Konstantin Beznosov. Engineers in LERSSE do empirical research to improve the ability and the security of real-world applications. Research projects span a wide range of topics, including network security, enterprise security architectures, secure software engineering, the usability aspects of security mechanisms, and critical infrastructure interdependencies.

Welcome to our visiting students from IIT-Jodhpur!

This summer, five students from the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT-J) will be joining ECE to collaborate on projects from the Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) initiative. The five visiting students, Rinku Meena, Rahul Malav, Rajat Jain, Yogendra Goyal and Junaid Masood, met with faculty members to discuss potential projects at an informal welcome last Friday.

Team 9 takes Bo Beep throw down

  Little Bo Peep has taken up engineering. Tired of suffering through a search in the wilderness for her sheep, Bo Beep has designed a robot that will home in on her lost livestock. The robot’s goal? Get little lost Barclay and Beatrice back to the barn as quickly as possible.

Two ECE Students are going to the 3MT Semi-Finals

During the Three Minute Thesis Competition graduate students explain the breadth and significance of their research project to a non-specialist audience. Mai Hassan and Parmida Beigi were successful at the APSC 3MT competition and will go on to the university-wide semi-finals on Tuesday, March 12th. Check the FoGS website for event details.  Mai Hassan took second place at the APSC heat. She is completing her research to efficiently expand the frequencies available to cellular networks with Dr. Vijay Bhargava.
