Congratulations Roberto and Steve

Big congratulations to Roberto Rosales and Steve Wilton who both received a Dean’s Award for Excellence in Service yesterday.

Roberto Rosales has worked at ECE in lots of roles, including System-on-Chip (SoC) Test Lab Manager and Engineering Service Group Team Lead. While officially a test lab manager, Roberto Rosales is always ready to take on any task that comes his way – throughout his 14 years at ECE, he has effortlessly donned the hat of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) manager, instructor, co-supervisor, facility manager, web designer and student mentor. In the SoC Test Lab, Roberto helps keep everything running smoothly for faculty and students and contributes to the innovative chip designs emerging from the lab. With his new expanded role as an Engineering Services Group Team Lead, Roberto is helping to keep the department running smoothly as well.

As Professor and Associate Head at ECE, Steve Wilton has shown tremendous commitment, strength and initiative in his efforts to help ECE in achieve its goals. He contributed to the important curriculum reforms at ECE that have been essential to meeting the evolving needs of our students. Last year, Steve worked tirelessly to lead the department’s Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) review to great success. Steve generously lends his time to assist with advice on research, teaching and other matters, and to mentor junior faculty members. Regardless of the task or project, Steve can be asked and counted on to support the department with energy and enthusiasm, and his efforts stand out for their sustained impact and contribution to ECE, Applied Science and UBC.

Thank you Steve and Roberto.
