Derrick Wing Kwan Ng Wins Best Paper at IEEE Conference

Congratulations to Derrick Wing Kwan Ng, recipient of the best paper award at the Wireless Communication Symposium at IEEE Globecom 2011, in Houston, Texas. In total 2923 papers were submitted, 1070 of which were accepted, and only 14 of which won a best paper award. Derrick’s paper, entitled Resource Allocation for Secure OFDMA Networks with Imperfect CSIT focuses on his research in communication systems. Specifically, Derrick, along with his colleagues and Ph.D. supervisor, Dr. Robert Schober, look at innovative designs to ensure wireless security.

IEEE Globecom 2011 covered the complete array of communications technologies, including cutting-edge advances in voice, data, image and multimedia. Security is a central issue in all communication applications; given the rapid development of wireless communication networks, wireless security becomes a critical concern. Derrick’s paper discusses the ability to provide a perfectly secure communication without using traditional methods, which are imbued with flaws within the wireless technology environment.
