Nikola Zlatanov receives Young Scientist of the Year Award

The president of the Republic of Macedonia awarded PhD student Nikola Zlatanov the Young Scientist of the Year Award this week. Nikola came to UBC in 2010 after completing his Master’s degree in electrical engineering at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje. Working with Dr. Robert Schober, Nikola will pursue his research interests in digital communications over fading channels, characterization and modeling of fading channels and cooperative diversity systems. Nikola received a Four Year Doctoral Fellowship from UBC to support this work.

Nikola Zlatanov recently received a UBC Killam Pre-Doctoral Scholarship valued at $27,000 for two years. The Scholarship is the most prestigious award available to UBC graduate students. He was the only student from the Faculty of Applied Science to receive the top UBC prize. Nikola will pursue his research interests in digital communications over fading channels, characterization and modeling of fading channels and cooperative diversity systems.
