Professor David Michelson Plays Key Role in Successful Wavefront Wireless Innovation Society of British Columbia Application.

The federal government has awarded $11.6-million to the Wavefront Wireless Innovation Society of British Columbia as one of the winners of the 2010 competition for National Centres of Excellence – Centres for Commercialization and Research (CECR). Of the seventeen CECRs funded since 2007, Wavefront is the first one that is devoted to wireless technology. Professor Dave Michelson, from our own Department of ECE, led UBC’s efforts to support Wavefront’s application. As a result of this successful application, Dave has been invited to recruit Wavefront’s Academic Advisory Panel and to serve as its chair. He has also been invited to be the first holder of the new academic seat on Wavefront’s Board of Directors. This is truly great news for Canada’s wireless community that will further contribute to UBC’s reputation as a leader in Canada’s wireless communications research community. Congratulations!
