Congratulations to Zahra Ahmadian, a PhD candidate working with Dr. Lampe, who recently received the Google Anita Borg Scholarship. Through this scholarship, Google hopes to encourage women to excel in computing and technology and become active role models and leaders. Anita Borg believed that technology affects all aspects of our economic, political, social and personal lives. Dr. Anita Borg devoted her life to revolutionizing the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields.
The Google scholars receive $5000 award and are invited to attend Scholar’s retreat in San Francisco. Google is also sponsoring Zahra’s trip to the Grace Hopper Conference in November.
