The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of UBC’s largest academic units, with a large undergraduate and graduate student enrolment as well as a large and reputable faculty. ECE offers academic programs leading to the Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in either Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.), and Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees.

UBC Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is a world leader in electrical and computer engineering education and research. ECE accounts for approximately one-third of all UBC Engineering faculty members. Collectively, ECE’s faculty members have an outstanding record of attracting strong undergraduate and graduate students, research funding from government sources, and have demonstrated increased efforts to attract funding from industrial sources over the past five years. ECE has a strong research focus, in addition to a large number of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and ranks highly amongst other ECE departments in Canada, particularly in terms of funding per faculty member through the NSERC Discovery Grant Program.
