The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of UBC’s largest academic units, with a large undergraduate and graduate student enrolment as well as a large and reputable faculty. ECE offers academic programs leading to the Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in either Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.), Master of Engineering Leadership in Dependable Software Systems (MEL-DSS), and Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees.

UBC Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is a world leader in electrical and computer engineering education and research. The ECE Department is located on the UBC Vancouver Campus, one of the most stunning university campuses in Canada, with wonderful views of the North Shore Mountains and quick access to some of the city’s most popular beaches. ECE accounts for approximately one-third of all UBC Engineering faculty members. Collectively, ECE’s faculty members have an outstanding record of attracting strong undergraduate and graduate students, research funding from government sources, and have demonstrated increased efforts to attract funding from industrial sources over the past five years. ECE has a strong research focus, in addition to a large number of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and ranks highly amongst other ECE departments in Canada, particularly in terms of the NSERC Discovery Grant Program research funding per faculty member.
