AgroBot

At UBC Agrobot, our goals are centered on mastering the intersection of agriculture and advanced technologies. As a forward-thinking design team, we focus on leveraging innovations in AI, robotics, and agricultural technology to solve real-world problems in agriculture. Our mission is to provide members with hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing scalable, practical solutions for the agricultural industry.
Our multidisciplinary approach integrates agriculture, software development, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and applied AI. This approach enables us to explore cutting- edge technologies like autonomous navigation, precision agriculture systems, and controls. We foster a culture of continuous learning, ensuring that our team members develop and refine their skills to address the evolving challenges of modern agriculture.

UBC Agrobot is advancing three key projects:

  1. Agrobot: This robot targets and eliminates weeds with precision, reducing herbicide use and crop damage.
  2. Agroponics: Our system automates hydroponic farming processes, enhancing efficiency and scalability in controlled environments.
  3. Agropicker: Designed to harvest blueberries with precision, this robot improves efficiency and reduces labor costs

UBC Agrobot offers a range of targeted subteam opportunities for ECE students:

  • Applied AI: Members gain end-to-end experience in developing neural networks, from data collection to deployment.
  • Navigation & Embedded Systems: Members develop algorithms for autonomous driving and work with embedded systems to enhance Agrobot’s navigation.
  • Electrical: Members focus on the power distribution system and controls for our robots, ensuring efficient operation.
  • Automation: Members design closed-loop systems for hydroponics and IoT, enhancing the automation of our agricultural solutions.
