Adjunct Professor
Dr. Najeeb Khan is an adjunct professor with the department of electrical and computer engineering at the University of British Columbia. His research at UBC involves machine learning techniques for brain-computer interfaces specifically for speech production. Prior to UBC, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada working on regularization and inference acceleration techniques for deep neural networks.
Dr. Khan also serves as a senior data scientist at Global Relay, a provider of compliant archiving, messaging, and eDiscovery solutions for highly regulated industries. At GR he is working on voice analytics solutions including speech-to-text, keyword search, and speaker identification. He is driving the efforts to scale these models to process millions of minutes of audio daily. From 2018 to 2021, Dr. Khan was with Calian, Advanced Technologies – a space communications company. As a machine learning lead, he led Calian’s efforts to simulate mega-constellations for efficient radio resource management in satellite communications.
