Vincent Wong is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He received his BSc (with distinction) degree from the University of Manitoba in 1994, MASc degree from the University of Waterloo in 1996, and PhD from UBC in 2000, all in electrical engineering. His research areas include protocol design, optimization, machine learning, and resource management of communication networks, with applications to the Internet, wireless networks, smart grid, mobile cloud computing, and Internet of Things. Dr. Wong is an executive editorial committee member of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, an Area Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications and IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, and an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. He is an IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer (2019 – 2020). Dr. Wong is a Fellow of the IEEE.
Research Interests
Protocol design, optimization, wireless networks, smart grid, machine-to-machine communications, RFID, and intelligent transportation systems.
