Lutz Lampe is a Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UBC and served as Department Head, pro tem from July 2023 to June 2024. He received his PhD. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Erlangen, Germany, in 2002. His research interests are broadly in communication theory and applications, signal processing, and applications of machine learning.
Dr. Lampe has received a number of UBC and international awards for his scholarly contributions. He has been an Associate Editor for several international journals, General Chair of the Smart Grid Communications, International Power Line Communications and Ultra-Wideband Communications conferences, and an officer in technical committees of the IEEE Communications Society. He is the lead co-editor of the book Power Line Communications.
