Leo Stocco teaches Control System, Bio-Medical Instrumentation, and Project courses in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at UBC. He received his PhD degree from UBC in the field of robotics and control in 2000. He went on to lead the Robotics Group at Integrated Surgical Systems which builds a surgical robot for total hip and knee arthroplasty surgery. In 2005, he returned to UBC and later founded Orbitless Drives Inc., a start-up company that develops and licenses a patented epi-cyclic gearing technology that was developed by Leo.
Research Interests
Medical robotics, haptic interfaces, electro-mechanical optimization.
