Dr. Jim McEwen To Be Awarded Honorary Degree at UBC Spring Convocation

Congratulations to Dr. James Allen McEwen, who will be recognised in UBC’s June convocation with an honorary degree. Dr. McEwen is a pioneer of the Canadian biomedical engineering industry, and is the inventor of the microprocessor-controlled automatic surgical tourniquet system that is now standard equipment in operating rooms worldwide.

Dr. McEwen is an alumnus of our ECE department, and we are very proud and fortunate to remain connected and engaged with him.

The university awards honorary degrees in recognition of individuals who have made substantial contributions to society at the provincial, national or international levels.
