Congratulations to Professor Vikram Krishnamurthy for being awarded a 2010 UBC Killam Research Prize. Established in 1986, the UBC Killam Research Prizes are awarded annually to top campus researchers. Up to ten prizes in the amount of $5,000 each are awarded to fulltime faculty members in recognition of outstanding research and scholarly contributions.
Vikram Krishnamurthy received his PhD from the Australian National University, Canberra, in 1992. He is currently a professor and holds the Canada Research Chair in Statistical Signal Processing at the Department of Electrical Engineering, UBC. Prior to 2002, he was a chaired professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Melbourne, Australia, where he also served as deputy head of the department. His current research interests include game theory, stochastic optimization and control and their applications in sensor networks, wireless communication networks, radars and computational biology.
Dr. Krishnamurthy is a Fellow of IEEE. In 2009 and 2010 he served as Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Signal Processing Society. In 2010 he served as Editor in Chief of IEEE Journal Selected Topics in Signal Processing. He has served as an associate editor for several journals including IEEE Transactions Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions Aerospace and Electronic Systems, IEEE Transactions Nanobioscience, and Systems and Control Letters.
