First and Best at AUTO21

At this year’s Toyota Canada AUTO21 HQP Poster National Competition, a team of UBC engineers won Best in Theme A (Health, Safety and Injury Prevention), tied for first place overall, and brought home a $4,000 cash prize for their poster, “Injury Prevention Through Adaptive Seat Design”.

Led by Dr. Douglas Romilly of Mechanical Engineering (MECH), the team consists of Nima Ziraknejad: an ECE PhD Candidate co-supervised by Dr. Douglas Romilly and Prof. Peter Lawrence, and two undergraduate students, Pranav Saxena of ECE and Anshul Porwal of MECH, who worked under Nima’s supervision. The team’s poster beat out 60+ teams at this years’ AUTO21 conference, held at Montreal.

This isn’t the first time UBC has been recognized for its exceptional poster entries. Nima’s submission last year won Best in Theme, fourth place and a $1,000 cash prize. AUTO21 Network of Centres of Excellence work on making Canada a world-class leader in automotive research and development.

Congratulations to everyone!
