H+Technology breaks through crowdfunding goal on first day

Holus 3D Holographic display over 400% funded in first few days of campaign

H+Technology is the brainchild of three UBC Alumni, Dhruv Adhia, Vincent Yang and Yamin Lin, who met while completing their Master’s degrees at the Centre for Digital Media. H+Technology creates immersive holographic experiences that utilize gestures, voice and other forms of interaction. Their devices are designed to enable groups of people to gather around the technology, encouraging interaction. The company has launched a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign for the Holus, a tabletop holographic platform that converts any digital content from a computer, tablet or smartphone into a 3D hologram.

To continue developing the Holus and other interactive platforms, H+Technology is collaborating with local post secondary institutions including the co-founders’ alma mater. ECE’s Nanostructure Research Group is working with H+Technology to investigate optics systems for projecting images onto the display medium. Hopefully the results of this research will be useful in future generations of H+ Technologies’ products.

And for all those developers out there, the Holus Pro comes with a software development kit (SDK) so you can render 3D objects and create apps for the Holus. H+Technology is continuing to work on middleware so you can quickly prototype connecting different sensors with the Holus.
