Mohamed Elsakhawy received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt. He received his M.E.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is an industry expert in Cloud computing with expertise in large-scale multi-site Clouds. He served as the Operational Lead of Compute Canada’s Cloud National Team between 2017 and 2021. His current industry engagements focus on the architecture and engineering of private on-prem Clouds.
Dr. Elsakhawy is a frequent speaker at open-source conferences including StackConf, and the OpenStack/OpenInfra summits. He served as the Vice-Chair and Chair of the OpenStack user committee between 2019 and 2020. His research interests lie in the broad spectrum of Cloud Computing with a particular focus on data-driven intelligence for the Cloud.
Dr. Elsakhawy is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of British Columbia, Canada
