Professor David Michelson recently received a conference leadership award from Tourism Vancouver in recognition of the great success of the 2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & URSI North American Radio Science Meeting
that was held in in Vancouver last summer. Prof. Michelson served as both a General Co-Chair and the Finance Chair of the event.
After receiving a record number of submissions, the IEEE International Symposium hosted almost 1700 attendees – a near record. The conference introduced many innovations including an invitation to members of the local community to attend the noon hour plenary sessions each day at no charge that was taken up by hundreds of local people. A senior member of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society’s leadership said, “I heard many, many people say it was the best summer meeting we’ve ever had, and I’m sure not going to disagree with them.”
