TZOA is a wearable environment tracker able to measure a number of variables affecting the quality of our surroundings such as, air pollution, UV, humidity and many more. Soon to be launched by a Vancouver start-up, the TZOA will be supported by software allowing users to create a crowd-sourced map of local environmental data in real-time. This capstone group of software engineers is developing the Android application and backend server functions that will allow users to view the air quality data detected by the device on their phones. The server is also able to bring together crowd-sourced data from other TZOA users in the area to create a map of local air quality.
The team feels this project will help people to be more sensitive to their environment, “Our project connects people to aspects of their surroundings that are normally invisible, like air pollution or UV. It promotes great awareness of the environment”, Erin Bush.
